Mikulčice
The oldest written mention of the village dates back to 1131 (Miculcici). The modern village of Mikulčice has existed since 1 January 1951, when the original villages of Mikulčice and Těšice were merged.
Three kilometers southeast of the present village was located on the Morava River in the 6th-10th. century Slavic mud fort, one of the main centers of Great Moravia. The fortified settlement with the remains of 12 churches and the princely palace is protected as a national cultural monument of the Slavonic fortified settlement in Mikulčice; since 1963 the Great Moravia Monument has been established here.
